Novità Di Giugno Parte II. Black Country Communion, Dave Alvin, Pat Metheny, Bon Iver, Richard Thompson, Neil Young

Torniamo alle liste delle uscite settimanali. Ho saltato un appuntamento, recupero oggi. Quindi alcuni titoli già usciti il 14 giugno, altri sono in uscita il 21 giugno. Cominciamo con Neil Young A Treasure di cui vi avevo già parlato lo so, ma volevo aggiornarvi sul contenuto dell’edizione speciale CD+ Blu-Ray (sapete che il vecchio Neil è “strano”). Praticamente visto che non si trovavano informazioni chiare sul contenuto del Blu-Ray prima dell’uscita, uno doveva prenderlo sulla fiducia e poi solo sullo stickerino del dischetto finalmente trovare le bramate indicazioni: quindi contiene, alla lettera, “bootleg bonus footage of 4 songs”, commento video dei brani e una intervista del 1984 per un totale di 53 minuti. Alla faccia della super qualità sonora, quattro tracce pirata del periodo.

Il nuovo Pat Metheny si chiama What’s It All About è uscito il 14 giugno negli States e uscirà il 21 per la Nonesuch Warner in Europa. Si tratta di un album acustico, dove per la prima volta in 40 anni di carriera rivisita alcuni brani celebri della musica internazionale, da And I Love Her dei Beatles a The Sound of Silence passando per Alfie, Garota De Ipanema e altri 6 brani. Molto bello peraltro!

Come ho già detto varie volte nel passato, Joe Bonamassa uno ne pensa e cento ne fa. Non sono passati nemmeno tre mesi dall’uscita di Dust Bowl che già esce Black Country Communion 2, nuova prova del gruppo che condivide con Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham e Dave Sherinian. Etichetta Mascot, uscita il 14 giugno. Ne esiste una prima tiratura limitata con stesso contenuto, 11 brani di sano hard-rock-blues di qualità, ma libretto deluxe e copertina gatefold apribile. D’altronde il tour europeo è con questo gruppo e il 28 giugno sarà a Vigevano in una serata anche con la band di John Mayall. Se siete  più ricchi l’8 luglio sarà alla Royal Albert Hall di Londra in una serata anche con Rick Wakeman e i Deep Purple.

Nuovo album per Dave Alvin, Eleven Eleven, esce il 21 giugno per la Yep Rock. Dopo l’ottimo album con le Guilty Women del 2009, Alvin raduna un piccolo manipolo di prodi tra cui il fratello Phil Alvin con cui duetta per la prima volta su disco. Tra i brani di cui si parla molto bene: Run Conejo Run con un ritmo alla Bo Diddley, la ballata romantica No Worries Mija e Harlan County Line un brano che appare nella serie televisiva Justified dove Alvin appare in un cameo come sè stesso cantando il brano. Inutile dire che la settimana prossima si provvede alla recensione.

Il primo album di Bon Iver For Emma Forever Ago era stata una piccola sensazione nel mondo discografico con ottime recensioni e questa “leggenda” romantica (peraltro vera) di essere stato registrato in una piccola casetta nel nulla dopo una delusione amorosa. Il nuovo Bon Iver Bon Iver esce  il 21 giugno sempre per la 4AD ed elabora quei temi musicali allargando, un poco ma non troppo, le sonorità sobrie del primo album.

Sapete che Richard Thompson è uno dei miei musicisti preferiti in assoluto e quindi l’uscita di questo cofanetto quadruplo è particolarmente attesa, almeno a casa mia. Si tratta di un box 3 CD e 1 DVD con le le registrazioni d’archivio di oltre trent’anni di carriera. Live At the BBC esce il 21 giugno per la Island/Universal e contiene 80 brani tra audio e video anche tratti dal periodo con Linda Thompson.
