L’indiscrezione girava in rete già da qualche tempo, ed oggi è stata confermata: l’11 Novembre la Sony pubblicherà The 1966 Live Recordings, un box che definire monumentale è il minimo, non nelle dimensioni, bensì nel contenuto. Trattasi infatti della tournée completa di quell’anno di Bob Dylan, una serie di concerti insieme a The Band (che allora si chiamavano ancora The Hawks) che è passata alla storia come uno dei tour più importanti di tutti i tempi, e che era già stata toccata dalle Bootleg Series con il quarto volume, che riguardava il concerto completo alla Free Trade Hall di Manchester (quello del famoso battibecco di Bob con il fan che gli aveva urlato “Judas!”), serata che per anni era stata erroneamente collocata alla Royal Albert Hall. Il box comprende tutto ciò che esiste su nastro di quei 23 concerti (la maggior parte in Europa, più qualcuno in Australia ed America), con qualche serata incompleta ed anche diverse audience recordings (gli ultimi cinque dischi). Un’operazione che serve anche a salvaguardare i diritti d’autore per quell’anno, ma che a differenza della edizione super deluxe del box The Cutting Edge dello scorso anno, costerà circa un quinto (in Italia ed Europa dovremmo aggirarci tra i 140 e 160 euro, ma è molto indicativo e spannometrico), anche perché la confezione si preannuncia nettamente più spartana (ma comprenderà comunque un libretto con le note del noto biografo Clinton Heylin, del quale sta per uscire un libro proprio relativo a questo tour).
Qualcuno criticherà la scelta di pubblicare 36CD in cui si ripetono sempre le stesse canzoni (le scalette dell’epoca erano un po’ statiche, anche se come vedrete qua sotto qualche variante ogni tanto c’era), ma, dato il prezzo per una volta abbordabile (in rapporto al numero di dischetti, è chiaro), io ci farei un pensierino. Ad ogni modo uscirà anche una versione doppia che riguarderà anche soltanto il “vero” concerto The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert, al momento non si sa se la serata del 26 Maggio o quella del 27, o un meglio delle due (lo stesso anche in doppio vinile, ma pare si tratti del 27 maggio, quindi i dischi 30 e 31 della lista qui sotto).
