Ieri vi “anticipavo” il cofanetto dei Clash in uscita a settembre ma prima ci saranno altre uscite di box che in un certo senso ripercorrono le strade di altri manufatti simili usciti nel passato. Ma in fondo è bello ricomprarsi sempre le stesse cose, ultimamente uno dei pochi sport rimasti agli appassionati di musica.
Prendiamo gli Style Council di Paul Weller, nel 1998 usciva un cofanetto di 5 CD intitolato The Complete Adventures Of The Style Council: 100 brani, in ordine più o meno cronologico, con moltissimi dei brani della discografia della band inglese, inclusi anche inediti e rarita e l’album Modernism: A New Decade, l’ultimo registrato in studio ma mai pubblicato prima. Si trattava (anzi si tratta perché si trova ancora) di una antologia e quindi i brani erano in sequenza e non divisi nei vari dischi. Ora esce questo Classic Album Selection che in 6 CD, con le copertine originali ma senza libretti, ripropone gli album del gruppo, compreso l’EP di esordio e quindi:

Il grande “pregio” di questa nuova versione sta anche nel prezzo molto contenuto che dovrebbe essere tra i 25 e i 30 euro. Esce il 15 luglio per la Universal.
Decisamente più costosa, si parla di 90-100 euro, ma anche assai più interessante è la nuova versione del cofanetto degli Smashing Pumpkins The Aeroplane Flies High al quale è stato aggiunto un Deluxe nel titolo per non confonderlo con la prima versione uscita nel lontano 1996. In origine si trattava di 5 EP per un totale di 33 brani, ora sono diventati 6 CD Album, pieni zeppi di inediti e rarità, 89 brani in tutto, compreso un Live Inside The Dark Globe, più un DVD Live At Malsaucy Lake, Belfort France, 4 July 1997. In uscita per la Virgin, che sempre del gruppo Universal ora è, tra il 23 e il 30 luglio a seconda dei paesi.
Anche dei Beach Boys in passato quei 2 o 3(cento) cofanetti e album antologici, pure tematici, sono già usciti, ma questo Made In California doveva essere quello definitivo, per il 50° Anniversario del gruppo. Peccato che esca nel 2013, con un anno di ritardo rispetto ai festeggiamenti, ma poco male, in fondo siamo abituati a questi “strani” compleanni dei vari gruppi e solisti importanti della storia della musica pop e rock, le date giuste raramente vengono rispettate, l’importante è il pensiero. E anche per l’occasione il pensiero corre al portafoglio degli appassionati che si alleggerirà ulteriormente (si parla di una cifra decisamente superiore ai 100 euri, sempre prezzi indicativi, ovvio), però in questo caso, come potete vedere, il manufatto è molto interessante, e contiene una sessantina di inediti o rarità. Solita lista così potete verificare ed eventualmente confrontarlo con Good Vibrations Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys, uscito nel lontano 1993 per il 30° della band e che era un box di 5 CD (ma c’era un sesto dischetto, un mini con 5 brani) che già ai tempi antologizzava (brutta parola, ma efficace) i nostri amici.
