Proseguiamo la disamina dei cofanetti già usciti o di prossima pubblicazione in questa fine anno 2013, vi annuncio fin d’ora che ci sarà una quarta parte, visto che il materiale è molto!
Questo box dei Creedence Clearwater Revival senza nome, in 6 CD, non è altro che la ristampa, pari pari, a parte la veste grafica di quest’altro cofanetto:
uscito nel 2001 quando la Fantasy records era distribuito dal gruppo Warner, ora fa parte della Concord e quindi della Universal, quale occasione migliore del periodo natalizio per rendere nuovamente disponibile questo, peraltro bellissimo, cofanetto? Magari dicendo agli aquirenti che si stanno ricomprando non una versione riveduta e corretta dello stesso (visto che nel frattempo tutti i singoli album sono usciti rimasterizzati e potenziati da varie bonus tracks) ma lo stesso identico pubblicato nella prima parte degli anni 2000. Ripeto, ottimo, in 6 CD praticamente contiene tutta la discografia completa dei Creedence in ordine cronologico, a partire dai singoli incisi come Tommy Fogerty & The Blue Velvets e dai brani èubblicati come Golliwogs e poi a seguire tutta la discografia:
Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy & The Poor Boys, Cosmo’s Factory, Pendulum, Mardi Gras, The Concert e Live In Concert, ovviamente, come detto, senza tutte le bonus inserite nei vari album ufficiali. Ma a poco più di 50 euro mi sento comunque di consigliarlo a tutti, se già non lo avete, assolutamente indispensabile (meno Mardi Gras, forse, se volete acquistarli sciolti)! Esce il 3 dicembre.
Anche questo è la ristampa di un cofanetto già uscito in precedenza (si trovavano anche i tre CD divisi), la copertina originale era questa:
il titolo da The Boston Box è diventato semplicemente Boston, ma sempre lui è, uno splendido triplo album che raccoglie i concerti tenuti dai Fleetwood Mac di Peter Green (e Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood) al Boston Tea Party il 5, 6 e 7 luglio del 1970. Se ve lo siete lasciato sfuggire al primo giro non commettete di nuovo questo errore, il gruppo in quell’anno non aveva nulla da invidiare agli Allman Brothers o a Jimi Hendrix o a Derek & The Dominos o a chiunque vi venga in mente, una formazione formidabile e un album dal vivo incredibile.E’ già disponibile su etichetta Madfish dal 29 ottobre, ad un prezzo tra i 25 e i 30 euro. Provare per credere!
Anche per gli Yes trattamento opera omnia, almeno per gli album di studio del periodo Atlantic/Warner. Il cofanetto si chiama The Studio Albums 1969-1987 ed in 12 CD raccoglie il meglio della formazione di Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford, Alan White, Tony Kaye, Peter Banks (recentemente scomparso) e tutti gli altri che hanno fatto parte del gruppo in questo periodo. Comunque soprattutto la prima parte della discografia contiene alcuni albums di grande spessore che smentiscono tutte le critiche che sono state fatte al loro progressive rock nel corso degli anni: Yes Album, Fragile e Close To The Edge non possono mancare in nessuna discoteca che si rispetti, checché vi possano dire critici puristi e nemici delle lunghe improvvisazioni (ogni tanto prolisse, ma tanto piacevoli, lo ammetto, e poi suonavano! Ve lo dice uno che ama Van Morrison, Springsteen, Hendrix, Beatles, Stones e Co., ma non solo!). Vedo già dei sorrisini e delle risatine di scherno. Leo Sayer? Ma per favore, e invece, per il sottoscritto, almeno una parte dei suoi album, i primi, e poi molte canzoni qui e là evidenziano la presenza di un notevole talento sia a livello vocale che compositivo, nonchè visivo. Non per nulla, Roger Daltrey (proprio quello!), quando ha iniziato la sua carriera solista, per il primo album, l’eccellente ed omonimo Daltrey del 1973 si è affidato alla coppia Sayer-Courtney che gli ha scritto tutti i brani per quel disco, tra cui le bellissime One man band e Giving It All away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhhOmFwp7tc. In un mondo ideale quelli da avere sarebbero i primi 4 album, ma visto che il tutto dovrebbe costare una cinquantina di euro fateci un pensierino, nei primi dischi alla batteria c’era Mike Giles (King Crimson), James Litherland (Colosseum) e Russ Ballard (Argent) alla chitarra, Dave Markee (Centipede, Alan Price, poi con Joan Armatrading) al basso, tanto per citare alcuni musicisti che suonavano nei primi dischi. Di fianco ad alcuni brani, tra i migliori e più noti trovate il link del video, dateci un ascolto, potreste rimanere sorpresi in modo piacevole, non aspettatevi Tim Buckley o Van Morrison, ovviamente!
Per concludere il post di oggi, un altro bel cofanetto dedicato a Nick Drake, Tuckbox, 5 CD, esce il 10 dicembre per la Island/Universal e comprende tutti i dischi di Drake (quello “giusto”, speriamo che non leggano i fans di quello canadese, se no mi martellano subito): i 3 ufficiali e i due postumi in mini replica Lp sleeves. Se non li avessi già comprati 18 volte ci farei un pensierino. Comunque per i poliglotti lettori di questo Blog (non scherzo, ho visto nelle statistiche che arrivano visitatori anche da Stati Uniti, Inghilterra, Canada, Giappone e all over the world), questi i contenuti:
