Pink Floyd – Cre/ation The Early Years 1967-1972 – Best Of Box – 2 CD Warner/Parlophone 11-11-2016
Per anni, prima Roger Waters e poi David Gilmour, ci hanno detto che non esisteva materiale raro e/o inedito dei Pink Floyd, quantomeno utilizzabile per le varie ristampe uscite nel corso del tempo. Non per nulla nell’ultima ri-masterizzazione del catalogo completo, avvenuta nel 2011, con edizioni Discovery e Immersion (per i dischi più importanti), le nuove versioni riportavano pochissimo materiale extra. Ed ecco che improvvisamente, per novembre 2016, viene annunciato questo mastodontico cofanetto da 27 dischetti (che ci viene detto contiene 20 canzoni inedite, più di 7 ore di materiale audio dal vivo inedito e 5 ore di raro materiale video, ma in totale sono 11 ore e 45 minuti di audio e oltre 14 ore di materiale audio-video) e il tutto copre peraltro solo i primi anni di storia del gruppo: dal 1965, anno di fondazione della band a Londra, al 1972. Quindi non esce in concomitanza con il 50° Anniversario dalla formazione, che sarebbe stato nel 2015, e neppure con quello delle prime uscite discografiche, che sarà nel 2017. Ma ormai abbiamo imparato che le date sono diventate degli optional per le case discografiche, quello che conta è il mercato discografico natalizio. E per un’opera di questi dimensioni, i cui prezzi indicativi annunciati sono molto elevati, 600 dollari circa per il mercato americano (dal sito ufficiale del gruppo) e tra i 450 e i 500 euro in Europa, il momento dell’uscita è ovviamente strategico.
Come vedete ad inizio Post, e qui sopra, ci sarà comunque anche una versione da 2 CD, un distillato del cofanetto, intitolata Cre/ation The Early Years 1967-1972, che attraverso 27 pezzi (di cui 19 mai pubblicati prima a livello ufficiale) evidenzia il primo periodo della band, da quando erano ancora The Pink Floyd, passando per gli anni di Syd Barrett, fino all’anno antecedente all’uscita di The Dark Side Of The Moon. E vediamo subito cosa riporta questo doppio, prima di esaminare anche i contenuti del box da 27 dischi:

Il prezzo è consistente, ma anche i contenuti non scherzano, quindi studiate bene e poi fate le vostre mosse, perché comunque il tutto dovrebbe essere a tiratura limitata e quindi non è detto che poi resti in circolazione a lungo. Ma è anche vero il contrario, perché alcune di questo cosiddette versioni “limitate” (per esempio anche degli stessi Pink Floyd) continuano a circolare regolarmente sul mercato anche anni dopo. Quindi fate vobis, io mi limito a segnalare.
