Tom Petty ci ha lasciati circa un anno fa, nella notte tra l’1 e il 2 ottobre del 2017. La morte ha colpito tutti gli appassionati in modo devastante, perché è stata improvvisa e senza quelle che sembravano motivazioni certe; dopo parecchi mesi si è saputo che il decesso è avvenuto per una overdose di medicinali antidolorifici che Petty usava per lenire il dolore dovuto a vari fattori: un enfisema, problemi al ginocchio e un anca fratturata, soprattutto quest’ultimo era peggiorato causandogli probabilmente dolori lancinanti che ha cercato di calmare usando troppe medicine.
In questo lasso di tempo la famiglia e i suoi collaboratori hanno preparato questo cofanetto che verrà pubblicato dalla sua ultima etichetta discografica, la Reprise, intorno alla fine di settembre. Come leggete sopra ci saranno la solita pletora di versioni di An American Treasure. Dalle prime informazioni pare che quella Super Deluxe e quella in vinile saranno anche super costosissime, con un prezzo indicativo intorno e oltre i 150 euro, mentre quella quadrupla costerà sempre indicativamente, e molto più onestamente, intorno ai 30 euro o poco più. La Super Deluxe ovviamente mi pare indirizzata sopratutto verso i collezionista incalliti e facoltosi, visto che poi il contenuto musicale sarà identico, anche se cambia l’involucro e i memorabilia vari della confezione. Se ve la potete permettere, è questa sotto.
Scorrendo velocemente i contenuti, forse si poteva evitare di inserire tra i 60 brani del cofanetto18 canzoni nelle versioni già conosciute (anche se non sono tra le più note), dato che di antologie di Tom Petty ne esistono comunque a iosa. Però rimangono 8 brani totalmente inediti, una b-side e 33 pezzi in versioni mai pubblicate prima. Qui sotto potete leggere la lista completa.
