Per completare un autunno ricchissimo di ristampe e nuove uscite del giro Lennon/McCartney/Beatles che, se mi passate la battuta, lasceranno invece poverissimi tutti i fans, ecco arrivare un po’ a sorpresa e proprio a ridosso del Natale, ma ancora in Autunno, altri due cofanetti della serie dedicata alla opera omnia di Paul McCartney. Questa volta si ritorna agli inizi della carriera solista dell’ex Beatles, con i due dischi usciti in origine nel 1971-1973 e in effetti per i fans ricchissimi uscirà anche un box intitolato Wings 1971-1973 che raccoglie i due cofanetti per un totale di 11 dischetti, a cui verranno aggiunti un ulteriore libro, il tour programme e un CD inedito Wings Over Europe con 20 brani dal tour del 1972, il tutto per la modica cifra di 400 sterline (quasi 500 euro) acquistabile direttamente sul sito di Paul https://shop.paulmccartney.com/us_en/paul-mccartney-and-wings-1971-73-limited-edition-box-set.html
Vediamo comunque i contenuti delle ristampe separate dei due box: come vedete dalle immagini riportate sopra dei cofanetti entrambi contengono anche parecchi memorabilia. Wings Wild Life ha un libro rilegato di 128 pagine con la storia dell’album scritta da David Fricke, una delle poche firme “attendibili” che scrive ancora per la rivista Rolling Stone, oltre ad un altro libretto bloc note con le notizie del tour del 1972, più testi delle canzoni, scalette dei concerti, foto polaroid varie mai pubblicate e altro. I tre CD, oltre all’album originale rimasterizzato nel 2018 a Abbey Road, riportano un totale di 25 tracce bonus rare o inedite suddivise in due dischetti, mentre il DVD contiene 4 filmati. La versione in 2 CD avrà il CD 1 e 3 del cofanetto: quindi mancano solo gli 8 pezzi con i rough mixes del CD 2.

Red Rose Speedway è decisamente più sfizioso: con sei dischi è il cofanetto Super Deluxe record della Archive Collection di Paul (il massimo erano stati 5 per Ram). Oltre ai soliti due libri, il primo 128 pagine,, il secondo Wings In Morocco photobook da 64 pagine, ci sono pure 14 repliche di disegnini di Paul per l’album, 5 testi di canzoni scritti a mano, sempre in replica, ma niente foto aggiuntive perché il librone è soprattutto fotografico, mi pare ci siano anche una cartolina e dei piccoli sagomati. Contenuto musicale: CD 1, remaster 2018 dell’album, CD 2 Double Album Edition (ovvero il disco come sarebbe dovuto uscire in doppio LP, e in effetti verrà pubblicata anche questa versione in vinile), CD 3, brani rari, singoli, versioni alternative. Il doppio CD anche in questo caso riporterà il CD 1 e 3. DVD 1, il James Paul McCartney TV Special, parzialmente inedito, Live And Let Die Live In Liverpool e interviste, oltre ai video musicali, DVD 2 il film mai visto primaThe Bruce McMouse Show, Il Blu-ray riporta il Bruce McMouse Show e tutto il materiale audio in versione Dolby Surround.
